Saturday, October 8th, photographers from the Hampton Roads Community geared up for the annual Shoot For Good photo event. Photographers choose or are assigned to cover different non profit and volunteer groups from around the community and capture a bit of the good work these people do each day.
I chose to cover City Care, a non-profit organization that provides "help and healing" to the community around them. One of their biggest missions is donating food to a local apartment complex each Wednesday and Saturday morning. Volunteers Ross Sanchez, his daughter Khristie Sanchez, and friend Victor Marcos have dedicated every Saturday morning for over 3 years to picking up donated food from a local Kroger grocery and distributing it to Atlantis Apartments and a neighboring trailer park's residents in Virginia Beach.
Local resident of Atlantis Apartments shows some love and gratitude to dedicated volunteer, Ross Sanchez. For four years Ross has given a few hours every Wednesday and Saturday to bring donated food to the residents. He later recruited his family to also be a part of the distribution!
